Looking back through time Sharpe Hydraulics was founded by Chris and Karin Sharpe in June 2011 working in an area in the corner of another engineering company.
Realising quickly this wasn’t enough space we moved into a 200 square foot unit next door and purchased our first piece of machinery. Hiring Trevor Sharpe to keep jobs moving, we continued to expand.
We started building a reputation for an excellent service repairing hydraulic cylinders and also building a few new ones as well as hydraulic hose assemblies.
Space was becoming tight again, every morning piling jobs outside to bring them back in once the day was over.
It was time to move again.
We moved down to Elland where we continued to expand, more and more jobs coming in and more machinery needed onsite.
Kevin Sharpe joined to help us with the work flow.
In 2016 we lost our way with the passing of Karin Sharpe, not only a devoted wife and mother
but also our perilous leader, suddenly we had to think for ourselves.
Work was sparse, every day was a struggle then one day everything clicked and we started to move forward once again.
Around the corner was a larger unit so in 2017 we moved again.
Continuing to expand we now have an abundance of machinery to ensure we can get the job done no matter the size.
Over the years we have worked our way up from a tiny hydraulic ram repair shop to a paramount company offering not
only repairs but everything from design and manufacture to installation and maintenance and everything in between. As part of this expansion and working closely with a valued expert customer,
we also repair lorry mounted cranes and vehicle support cylinders sometimes having to strip out the crane booms and leg extensions to affect repairs on internal faults.
We regularly build batches of bespoke cylinders and one-off designs,
all manufactured to high standards with a 3:1 safety factor and tested 1.5 times maximum working pressure.
We have in our remit the knowledge and experience of over 40 years inhouse to be able to repair,
build new, or get your problem sorted.
